Why I Love William Penn Elementary
I cast a large net when I began the search for my child’s education, visiting all the local (and even out of town) schools just to get a feel for what’s available. I talked to families with children in all school settings. I applied for the lotto for Lehigh Valley Academy, a local charter school, and my child got a spot. I kept options open. One day I brought the kids with me and dropped into William Penn Elementary school, and was given an impromptu tour. I appreciated the relaxed feel, the openness, and the proximity to Moravian College and to our home. My child loved the big bell.
I am thankful for having my child at William Penn, where he is surrounded by children from all types of families. The teachers, principal, and guidance counselor have been receptive and responsive to any concerns I’ve had.
I’m an advocate for children to have plenty of playtime outside, and limited take home work, as children need that with the ever-increasing academic expectations. It is a work in progress, but I always feel listened to and supported by Dr. Roy, Bethlehem Area School District’s superintendent, and the staff at William Penn.
I’m thankful to be part of the community here.
