Entering the home stretch in the push for full and fair funding for public schools in this year’s state budget!

Now that the holiday weekend is over and the budget negotiations enter their final weeks, it’s time to really make clear to Senators Browne, Scavello, and Boscola, that they must support our students. We’ve gotten positive feedback from all three – so please keep it up! Feel free to call your state representative (Ann Flood’s information is below, or use the “find your legislator” link below to find your own representative) as well. As always, please enlist others to call or email, too! All of these legislators need to hear from us about how important it is for Harrisburg to adequately and equitably support our public schools.

I’m calling to share a message with the [Senator or Representative]. (Pause for them to ask a question or say “ok, go ahead.”) I’m calling to ask that they support the full and fair funding of public schools in this year’s state budget. The money is there: state revenues were ahead of projections by $1.5 billion in the last month alone. Schools and students and local taxpayers across the commonwealth need those resources. In lower wealth districts, too many needs go unmet because the current system of state support for public schools is both inadequate and unfair. There’s no excuse: We have the resources to provide students what they need, so please include a $1.25 billion increase in Basic Education Funding and $300 million for Level Up in this budget. Can you let me know where the [Senator or Representative] stands on this issue?
