Governor Wolf’s proposed budget would fully implement the Fair Funding Formula and provide additional support so that no district ends up worse off. This would mean nearly $176 million more in state Basic Education Funding support, and over $11 million more in state Special Education Funding, for Lehigh Valley school districts – all without raising any additional state taxes. It’s incredible to think about what this would mean for our districts’ academic and extracurricular programming and supportive services for students, not to mention the community and economic development boost this would mean for our municipalities, and the long-awaited relief this could bring for local taxpayers.
